Tom Cruise has signed on to star in a war drama based on a true story about an attempt to assassinate Adolf Hitler at the height of the second world war. Cruise was originally slated to produce the film, but after a number of meetings was offered the lead role. "After reading the script, Tom and I knew immediately that this was a film that we had to make," Cruise's production partner said. "As an added bonus, because of [director] Bryan Singer's involvement and Tom's admiration for him as a filmmaker, as well as the excellence of the script, the project attracted Tom as an actor.
