Will You Design Your Own T-shirt?

Yes, is men t-shirt again! If you are fed up of buying a T-shirt which it seems that every other person you see is wearing, good news is that clearly shows you have bought a fashionable one. However if you want to stand out from the crowd and perhaps make a fashion statement then perhaps you should consider designing your own T-shirt.

You’ve probably seen outlets that allow you to do just this when you have been on holiday, but for one reason or another you didn’t find the time to venture into the shop. Now you can create your own design and have it incorporated into a T-shirt for you online.

Some sites have design templates which you can start off with, you choose a T-shirt from one of their designs and customize a template. You can use clipart or you can have a design copied for you from a photograph. You need to think about how many colors your design will need, (4 are usual but less is cheaper) which colors you want and the style of T-shirt. You can get T-shirts made to your design for under $20, but again it

depends on your choice of design.

You can also get iron-on designs, but these will probably not last as long as designs that are printed on the fabric. Some sites online offer you next day delivery and allow you to draw your own design online or to upload photographs or to use templates and describe what you want. You don’t have to be an artist to design your own T-shirt.

It’s not just T-shirts that you can have your own designs printed on either, hoodies are popular as well as jeans and numerous other accessories. You can start with free clipart designs and add your own comment, and choose the font you want on your T-shirt.

You can say whatever your want on your T-shirt as the design companies do not censor comments. You can be cute, cheeky, flirty or downright obnoxious; whatever best goes with your character, or your mood.

So what are you waiting for? Go online and design the T-shirt you have always wanted, but never been able to find in the shops.

LACE - Fashion Trend 2011. How to wear lace.

How To Wear Lace...
Lace is very womanly  and it never really goes out of fashion, as lace clothing can be found among chain- store clothing rails throughout the year. Lace will become a popular fashion, and featured in many clothing shopes. When it's not so popular, lace becomes a classic and still remains in the fashion market.

Lace clothing gives a chic look, and can look beautiful without exertion.`But there's a few risks in wearing lace clothing, for example you can look too Gothic.

How you should wear lace.
You should avoid wearing jewelery with lace, as this will probably look over the top. Wear it with minimum jewelery. If you choose wearing lace wear it with stud earrings, or a gold bangle. Pearls are not good with lace.

Go for fine lace, rather than large chunky patterns. On the subject of hems, another one to avoid is a jagged, uneven cut. Medieval like fashion looks very silly on most people!

Never wear white stockings, unless your going to a dress-up party! Black lace stockings are hot with skirts in winter, but don't ever wear them with a denim skirt. Denim skirt plus black lace stockings is running the risk of looking trailer-trash. Avoid bright coloured skirts too. Black stockings will always go best with a black skirt. If your wear black stockings with a black skirt, go for a different coloured top, to avoid looking Gothic.

Lace panels on clothing is a good alternative to full lace garments.

If a clothing item is made completely of lace, wear it down with simple clothing. Plain, bold colours are good, all colours go with black, but brown. It's not really a good look to wear lace with clothing that is patterned or printed.

Be careful about wearing denim with lace. A garment with minimal lace, and particularly white lace, goes great with denim. But don't take it any further, like wearing a top made of completely lace, with a pair of jeans. It's a sort of stereotypical look, that doesn't look that nice.

Here's The Next Thing I'll Agonize Over Until I Inevitably Break Down And Buy It

($129, Irregular Choice, Modcloth.com)
I should just go ahead and devote approximately 48 minutes of my Tuesday to allow the practical side of me to try to convince the part of me that lacks self-control to have a two-way conversation about why I shouldn't buy these Irregular Choice heels. Ultimately, practical me will be held hostage by my lack of self-control, who will commandeer my credit card, hit "buy," and set free within me a strange brew of chemicals and emotions, ranging from oxytocin to shame and regret... Which is all just a long-winded, round-about way of admitting that I'll probably buy these. I love a crystal heel, and I LOVE Irregular Choice. They're like Jeffrey Campbell on MDMA.

See-Through Stylestalker Skater Dress? Sure. Why Not?

($233, Stylestalker, Asos.com)
Dear Mom,

Camp is great. You were right! I ended up making friends. I'll be ready to come home once summer's over I think though.

I have to tell you something though. I decided to start wearing see-through dresses (with a bra, of course). I won't wear it to Hebrew school, but everywhere else is fair game.

Love,

Your Daughter

Ruh-Roh. Hello Kitty Doc Martens Exist

Sanrio and Dr. Martens are BOTH turning 50, and they're celebrating the only way they know how -- covering an entire shoe in little Hello Kittys.

While I'm about three decades too old to justify wearing these, I do appreciate that not only Hello Kitty but her less popular friends Chococat, Keroppi, Little Twin Stars and My Melody all make appearances on the shoes too.

The Hello Kitty Docs are available April 2011. Proceed with caution, adults.

Is it sad that I don't think it's sad to consider selling one's own plasma for this Alice + Olivia tan leather tulip skirt? Should I not have admitted to that thought?

Buy Jewellery for your Love One at Bargain Price?

There are many online sites which sell designer jewellery to the individual customer and to retailers. You can shop on online sites that advertise themselves as wholesale designer jewellery suppliers, even though you may not want to buy a lot of wholesale jewellery. You can always check out these sites such as The Jewellery Channel and look for the type of designer jewellery that you like; there are sites which specialize in Italian glass jewellery, or Austrian crystal, those that specialize in Tiffany or designer jewellery and those that sell antique-style jewellery with stones such as marquisite featuring in the items to give them the Victorian look.

If you have a retail site or a traditional shop or stall in a market, then this is a very cheap way of buying stock. Alternatively you might just want to buy items for yourself and friends and family, and sites allow you to do this, although you should remember that the more you buy, the cheaper it will be.

Some sites sell jewellery from Thailand and China and these are probably the cheapest online sites. However you can get gold and diamond jewellery items including anklets, toe rings, body jewellery for piercings, whatever you want is out there. All you have to do is go through the online catalogues and put items in your shopping basket or cart.

When you get to the checkout your purchases will be calculated and you will be asked for contact details and your preferred payment method. You can choose to pay through PayPal or any other online method or take advantage of drop shipping services.

Drop shipping is a way of protecting your payment; you deposit money in a third party account and this is released when you receive your goods. You should consider which way you would like to pay and only give out your details on sites which are secure. This is shown in the bottom right hand corner, usually and the symbol to look for is the lock.

Shopping online is now more secure than it used to be so you can be fairly comfortable about not being ripped off. Take a look at some of the sites that offer wholesale jewellery and pick up some real bargains.

Charmed By Venessa Arizaga

Today I shot more footage for Stephanie Caruso's short film, "Fashion. It's Fucking Fantastic," about fashion bloggers -- watch the trailer here. It's J'DORABLE, and I'm honored to be in it. For real.

Anyway, I borrowed a necklace from one of my favorite jewelry designers, Venessa Arizaga, who creates charming (hee) necklaces and bracelets and types of handmade pieces that become insta-favorites (like, horse necklace status). She was a designer for Tuleh and Carolina Herrera and, most recently, design director for Zac Posen (NBD!) and left last year to pursue jewelry full-time and run her surf shop, the Rock Co-Op, in Rockaway Beach.

Many of her pieces are inspired by travels, the beach, and beachy travels, which is why each piece feels like a little souvenir celebration.

I wore the Gold Mine necklace...
($395, Venessa Arizaga)

I also love this charm necklace, but I knew my Jewish mom would lose her shiz if she saw me wearing a necklace with a cross on it. And I just can't do that to my moms, you know?
($150, Venessa Arizaga)
Q: What's cuter than this pearl and skull necklace? A: Not much.

Demonstrating my need for a real digital camera.

Get Venessa Arizaga's charming charm necklaces at Opening Ceremony and here.

Man Fashion: 5 Simple Ways to Choose the Right T-Shirts

It’s mens fashion T-shirt time again, but before you dash out and buy any of mens fashion T-shits, consider what to look for in choosing them. They are very versatile and durable if you choose wisely, and it is better to pay a little more so that the T-shirts you buy will last the whole season at least.

  1. First of all, check that the color suits you, or if you are buying for a man, then think about the colors that suit him rather than the ones you like. If he has auburn hair, he might not look good in a flame red T-shirt, for example.

  2. You should also consider the color from the point of view of its color fast properties. Do a small test by wetting a finger and rubbing it on the T-shirt. If the color comes off onto your finger, it will lose its color rapidly and will always have to be washed separately by hand. If it accidentally gets into the washing machine then you will have a minor disaster on your hands. You could not test this if you buy from online store, but you can rely on reputable brands such as Henleys and others.

  3. Buy colors that reflect the heat rather than those which absorb it, so white is a good choice and pastel shades, beige or pistachio green, not black or dark blue. You don’t want to be any hotter than is necessary.

  4. Check the stitching to see how firm it is. If it looks flimsy, then you will have a repair job to do after wearing and washing the T-shirt a couple of times.

  5. Last and most importantly, is to try it on and raise your arms above your head.

If the T-shirt rides up and leaves a vast expanse of flesh between it and the belt- line, then you need a bigger size. If you have swathes of material bunched around your waist, when you do this, then clearly it’s too big, unless you want a really baggy mens fashion T-shirt.

Of course there are always rugby shirts and tank-tops for men, although the former is usually made from thicker cotton than the T-shirt, and the tank-top doesn’t suit everyone, and it doesn’t protect the vulnerable skin at the top of your arms and shoulders. Mens fashion T-shirts are the better bet as they don’t go out of fashion and are easy to wear.

Finally, Striped Pants I Feel Okay About

($298, Tory Burch, ToryBurch.com)
Usually I react to the thought of striped pants the same way I do when I see young children drop something onto the floor of the subway and then put it into their mouths before their parents have a chance to catch them. That is to say... the very notion makes me ill at ease. I don't care how tall, thin, smart, or good at math  you are. Striped pants will make you look like a clown. The rare exceptions are rockers from the late '60s and early '70s. If the characters from the movie "Almost Famous" were your fictitious analog, chances are you were able to get away with striped pants. BUT, here's where I contradict myself! Because I ACTUALLY found a pair of striped pants that don't make me want to cry myself to sleep.

They're the Tory Burch Irene pant, and somehow they work! As Whitney Houston says at the beginning of "So Emotional," "I don't know why I like it. I just do!"

Oh, and speaking of Tory Burch, shell out $29 and get this Japan Relief t-shirt. One hundred percent of the proceeds go to the American Red Cross to aid in the relief efforts in Japan.

BREAKING: This Cat Shirt Rules

($44, Nümph, Modcloth.com)
Ha ha! JK! That's not breaking news, OF COURSE. But it worth expediently pointing out that the cat on this Nümph tunic is super bright, obviously, because he wears glasses. I feel like he spends a lot of time reading books printed by the Oxford Press, you know? Those REALLY big tomes with the tissue-thin paper, that's so impossible to highlight. Anyway, I'd believe anything this cat told me. Anything.

Also, check out more of Danish brand Numph's this-side-of-adorable apparel at ModCloth.

PS -- I'm feelin' on their dressy-but-comfy slouchy bow pants!

Sam Edelman's Spiked Lorissa Shoe Will Cut You

($209, Sam Edelman, Solestruck.com)
So, Sam Edelman's stud-covered Lorissa heels are hurting me real bad... in the real-good way. The kinda bad Fiona Apple meant when she was sloshing around in that hot tub back in 1997. That's it. Sam Edelman's studded heels = the Fiona Apple of footwear.

($209, Sam Edelman, Solestruck.com)
And the close-toed Yuma? Seriously? I'm 'bout it 'bout it.

(And PS: This is totally my all-time favorite karaoke song.)

They're Gonna Put Me In The Movies!

Woah! I'm gonna be in a documentary! Which is the kind of movie that you get to be in but you don't get paid for being in!

JUSSSST Kidding. Filmmaker Stephanie Caruso kindly asked me to participate in her documentary, Fashion. It's Fucking Fantastic, which is about fashion bloggers and the changing landscape of the fashion industry, and I was more than flattered, so I more than said yes. It was really fun, she's incredibly sweet, and moreover, she's incredibly talented! Despite the inevitable mortification/ is-that-really-me reaction I experienced hearing my own voice played back (but it's not about me, remember... wait... I guess it is in this case), the trailer turned out SO dope! I can't wait to see the movie when it's done. Look!

FINALLY! A BATHING SUIT WITH A HORSE ON IT!

($385, We Are Handsome, Net-a-Porter.com)
If you've been reading FashionBinge for at least a minute, you might know I have a "thing" about horses. I never rode horses, and I probably wouldn't, actually, as I'm almost as afraid of heights, speed, and falling (and with horseback riding comes the likelihood of all three) as I am those terrible sublimated dyed shirts. I certainly never owned a horse either. But I'm inexplicably drawn to miniature horses, horse accessories, and a well-timed, unforeseen appearance by a horse on an unsuspecting garment like a swimsuit. I mean COME ON. When did you last see a horse on a swimsuit, hm??

Besides the $385 price tag, the only bad thing I can possibly think of to say about this horse bathing suit by Australian brand We Are Handsome (the brand's name alone is killing me loudly), is that it'd probably make every other un-be-horsed article of clothing I own jealous not to have a horse gallantly galloping across it.
