The Runaways Is Now Playing Nationwide

And how perfect... Today just happens to be Kristen Stewart's birthday!

Kristen Stewart and Dakota Fanning star in this music-fueled story of the ground-breaking, all girl, teenage rock band of the 1970s: The Runaways. The film follows two friends, Joan Jett and Cherie Currie, as they rise from rebellious Southern California kids to rock stars of the now legendary group that paved the way for future generations of girl bands. Joan and Cherie fall under the Svengali-like influence of rock impresario Kim Fowley, played by Michael Shannon, who turns the group into an outrageous success and a family of misfits. With its tough-chick image and raw talent, the band quickly earns a name for itself—and so do its two leads: Joan is the band’s pure rock’ n’ roll heart, while Cherie, with her Bowie-Bardot looks, is the sex kitten. Written and directed by Floria Sigismondi, the film chronicles Joan and Cherie’s tumultuous relationship on and off stage, as the band starts to break out.

Cute Skirt Alert! And Other...Cuteness

I have to post this because otherwise I'll just do another shoe post.


BB Dakota skirt, $40. "Tribal" is in, folks. It's one of those things, like "nautical" and "floral," that magazines loooooove to run trend stories on, year after year after year. Anyone for mod? Equestrian? LUMBERJACK? Ahem. Anyway, this skirt is totally cute and 100 percent cotton. I am buying it.

Where was I? Oh, yes. Cute stuff other than shoes. Here we go, fast and furious:


Striped cardigan (STRIPES!), $58.



Denim dress, $52. I might buy this too. Undecided. It looks a little eh, but then sometimes the things that don't look like much on the hanger end up being your go-to pieces. At least that's what I've found.



Kimchi Blue striped skirt, $48. Not sure why I'm into high-waisted skirts all of a sudden, but that appears to be the case.



BDG striped knit pencil skirt, $48. This might fall under the rubric of "theoretically cool but looks like shite on an actual girl." But I like the construction in addition to the stripes. One word: pockets!

Finally, I'm sorry, but I can't NOT tell you about one awesome, cheap-ass shoe purchase I made recently.


These fantastic little canvas slip-ons, $16, are the perfect casual summer shoe. I'll wear these with everything on the weekends. Also in perennially trendy STRIPES!

Geox's Totally Transtracular Empire State Building Heels

Geox, the people who brought you, um, golf shoes, now bring you these batshittingly transtacular heels with an EMPIRE STATE BUILDING HEEL.

These are so '90s that they practically walked straight out of Pret A Porter.

If you read lots of blogs (late pass! I've been on my honeymoon!) then you already know that these Geox heels are part of the comfy shoe brand's Spring/ Summer line and launched to herald (har) the opening of Geox's new store on 34th Street.

They kind of have a bit of a Payless-drops-acid vibe to them, which is to say I would probably buy them on a whim if they were for sale at Payless for like $49, as opposed to $230, which is too much to spend on a joke. But I do like that they're basically the embodiment of one of my favorite Bee Gees songs, "Nights On Broadway."

PS: True story: When I was a kid, I used to think it was the Empire Strikes Back Building. Awww. I was such a cute kid. See?

Even at under 12 months, I was runnin' that awesome outfit game.

Spring - It's All About White

After many months of dark colors since the spring has sprung I am totally infatuated with the color white. White jeans, the perfect white t-shirt, and dressy white sandals are all on my shopping list this month.

Faryl Robin Sample Sale: Resistance Is Futile

I tried not to go. I really did. I said to myself, "You don't need new shoes." But, truth is, I probably do! It's a new season (summer in NYC, apparently), and many of my old sandals have seen better days. And so: shoe sample sale! I got two uber-practical pairs of sandals which seem comfortable, have heels of moderate height and above-average cuteness, and rang up at $49 each. Why the hell not?


Faryl Robin "Dakota," $199 retail. This is going to be a staple of my wardrobe. Is it possible I don't have a pair of decent black wedges?? Well, I do now.



Faryl Robin "Elise," $199. The ones I got were uniformly taupe, although they did have this pair, with the peach and citron straps. I thought taupe would go with more stuff. Love that heel!

They also had most of the other spring styles available, most of them for $49 but a few for more. Lucky 7s can peruse the boot section as well. Man Fashion: Men's with Economy Fashion Style

Although we always discussed about the latest fashion trends in each season and review about all the fashion designers clothing in each and single Men Fashion Week runway, we do received some e-mail on how we can achieve men fashion style and yet take good care of our wallet too.

Well, today we would like to share these 3 simple man fashion tips on how you can have both side of the world.

Buy clothes only in Seasonless fabrics

DO stock up on those that can be worn nearly all 12 months of the year, like silks, lightweight wools and knits, and sturdy, unflimsy cottons. DON’T spend serious money on summer-only (linen) or winter-only (heavy tweed) fabrics.



Introduce yourself to the most useful accessory ever

DO play with belts to remake everything--a sweater, a dress, a jacket--in your closet. Gabrielle Union's look is perfection, right? DON'T attempt to cinch in lots of excess fabric. You'll look like a paper bag tied in the middle!

Own a few cardigans



DO make sure you have several of these always-right sweaters in tissue-thin cashmere or wool like Kate's, or a nice cotton. Wear them in place of jackets--they're a whole lot cheaper! Check out sales, but... DO realize it's OK not to wait for the markdown if you find a piece you love and will wear again and again and again. DON'T get so caught up in the fact that something's on sale for $7 that you squeeze yourself into a too-tight piece and say, "It fits!"
