Drew's Charitable Heart

By the time yesterday's Oprah had ended, Drew Barrymore had not only expressed her feelings about her cutie of a boyfriend Justin Long, but more importantly, made the HUGE announcement that she was donating $1 million to the World Food Progamme.

Barrymore, a UN ambassador and the current Vogue cover girl, appeared on Monday's Oprah for a big give of her own during the themed show. After both her and Long were questioned about their blossoming romance by Winfrey, (we'll get to that a little later) Barrymore presented a check for $1 million dollars to the World Food Programme, which will help feed children in Africa. Barrymore, who has worked with the charity since 2005, has already made two trips to Kenya and seen for herself what a big impact she is making. "I have seen with my own eyes what a difference a simple cup of nutritious porridge can make in a child's life," the actress told Winfrey. "It helps them learn, stay healthy, and sets them on track for a bright future." Best friend Cameron Diaz even phoned in, expressing how proud she was of her donation, saying that she was "choked up."

Barrymore, like I mentioned before, also opened up about her and Long's relationship. Both "fresh" out of the shower after using the hotel shampoo, (Barrymore revealed after Winfrey asked why she smelled so good) Barrymore described Long as her best friend and the relationship as "healthy, productive, supportive and full of humor," also stating that they were having an "excellent time."

And what does Long have to say about his lady love?

"She smells good," Long told Winfrey. "She's beautiful," he said, "and funny. The most compassionate person I've ever met."

Definitely rooting for Drustin!

Justin takes Drew home for Thanksgiving

Looks like Drew Barrymore and Justin Long are getting serious. The He's Just Not That Into You co-stars spent Thanksgiving with Long's family in his hometown of Fairfield, Conn. Then, on Friday, the couple kicked back at the nearby Southport Brewing Company. "They started out in the bar area and then moved to a booth, where they sat next to each other and kissed and hugged," said a witness. Long recently posted a new entry on his official website, saying he was headed to the East coast to see his "girlfriend" and spend Thanksgiving with his family. He also raved about Flower Films, Barrymore's production company.

Drew signs on for HBO adaptation

Drew Barrymore and Jessica Lange will star in an HBO movie adaptation of "Grey Gardens," the 1975 documentary about Jacqueline Kennedy Onassis's eccentric cousin and aunt. The story follows the relationship between the mother-daughter duo of "Big Edie" (Lange) and "Little Edie" (Barrymore), who spent most of their lives in a decaying mansion on New York's Long Island. The project was originally announced as a feature film in 2006, though HBO films was not involved at the time. Edith Ewing Bouvier Beale and her daughter Edith Bouvier Beale made national headlines in 1971 when the Suffolk County Health Department raided their dilapidated East Hampton mansion - named Grey Gardens - and found more than 50 cats, raccoons, fleas, piles of garbage, human and cat excrement and no heat or running water. The department threatened to kick the pair out of the 28-room mansion before Kennedy Onassis stepped in and paid to help clean it up. Big Edie died in 1977, and Little Edie sold the house to Washington Post editor Ben Bradlee and his wife two years later. She became a nightclub singer, moved to Florida and died in 2002.

Drew to produce all-star flick

Jennifer Connelly, Kevin Connolly, Bradley Cooper and Ginnifer Goodwin are in negotiations to star in He's Just Not That Into You, an ensemble comedy to be produced by Drew Barrymore. The project is based on the best-selling book of the same title. Pieced together in the style of Traffic, the Baltimore-set story of interconnecting characters deals with the challenges of reading or misreading relationship behavior. Jennifer Connelly will play a woman stuck in a tired marriage with Bradley Cooper's character, and Ginnifer Goodwin plays a woman obsessed with Kevin Connolly's character who tries to set up accidental meetings with him. Barrymore herself will also co-star, playing a woman perpetually confused by dating, especially in the current technology-obsessed world. Production is set to begin in September.

Drew named as UN ambassador

Drew Barrymore is following in the footsteps of Angelina Jolie, Nicole Kidman and Naomi Watts as a U.N. ambassador. Barrymore has been named as an ambassador against hunger for the World Food Program after a recent trip to Kenya, where she toured WFP-supported school projects. "I can't think of any issue that is more important than working to see that no schoolchild in this world goes hungry," the Lucky You actress said in a statement. "Feeding a child at school is such a simple thing, but it works miracles. I've seen it with my own eyes." Barrymore was in Washington this week advocating legislation in Congress to increase funds for school meals from $100 million a year to close to $300 million a year over the next five years.

Drew Barrymore: CoverGirl

Drew Barrymore had been announced as CoverGirl's newest model and spokesperson. The Music and Lyrics actress will also be co-creating the ads she appears in, consulting on the concept, graphics, lighting, and photo cropping. "I leave the makeup and product up to them, that's their expertise," Barrymore says. "What I want to do is honor the tradition of CoverGirl but hopefully bring myself and my personality into it, as well as some edgy fashion-forward thinking and positivity to it... I like to be involved in every aspect. I'm a control freak but I keep those issues at bay when I work with other people." Barrymore said she jumped at the chance to try her hand at modelling. "What girl doesn't fantasize about it?" she said.

Drew Barrymore has signed on to be the face of a new collection by British fashion designer Giles Deacon. The Music and Lyrics star reportedly agreed to front the clothing campaign after bumping into Deacon in a hotel elevator. The collection includes animal print and embroidered skinny jeans, cotton minidresses and a range of accessories.

Drew showed support for Hugh when he needed it

Hugh Grant found an odd kinship with Drew Barrymore after the Charlie's Angels star sent him a letter following his 1995 arrest for picking up a prostitute. "Drew sent me a letter during my great scandal of 1995," Grant says. "I had two incredibly supportive letters from famous people. One was from Drew. The other was from Francis Ford Coppola. Both apologizing for the press coverage and being supportive. So I've always loved Drew for that." Barrymore co-stars with Grant in the upcoming romantic comedy Music and Lyrics, and Barrymore told her fellow actor, "I wouldn't send anyone I didn't know a letter, but I thought you were so charming. I wrote you a letter and you wrote one back! It hung on my fridge for a long time."

Drew and Fab split

Adorable actress Drew Barrymore has called it quits on her relationship with Strokes drummer Fabrizio Moretti. "Fab is now living back in his old apartment," said a friend of the rocker. "Drew said they needed time off," confirmed a source close to Barrymore. The cause of the rift was reportedly just clashing personalities. "He's younger, and she's more worldly," said a source. "He doesn't like the Hollywood stuff. He doesn't get her friends." However, the couple have called it off before, and an insider says they could reconcile. "This is exactly what happened last time they took a break," added the source.
