When I first got into the business of finding a dress shirt, I fell into the trap of buying a pretty and structured one. I mean, the line between dress shirts being manly and feminine is thin, so I thought I'd err on the excessive side and find a highly feminine one. And that is how I now have not one, but TWO, v necked structured dress shirts in my wardrobe from Ted Baker that looks terrible on me- kind of like these two here from Express above (Ted Baker must have seen the error of his ways and stopped producing them, because they were nowhere to be found on his site).
With an 18-month-old daughter, a young marriage, and responsibility for a major movie studio, Tom Cruise isn't getting his beauty sleep. "Just like everybody else, you just work it out," Cruise tells Entertainment Tonight about his hectic schedule in an interview airing Thursday, according to the Associated Press. "We've gotten pretty good at organizing everything. I don't sleep much anyway." Cruise, 45, marks two one-year anniversaries this month: his marriage to Katie Holmes, and the deal that put him and producing partner Paula Wagner in charge of United Artists studios. Family life with Holmes, 28, and daughter Suri is "all very good, all very lovely," he says. "I have a lot of respect for [Katie] as an artist, as a woman. She's a very strong, gracious woman. She's very funny, a great comedian." The UA job, on the other hand, has him feeling like a student again. It's "kind of like film school," he says, "like a dorm with all hands on deck. We're all very supportive and very honest." Cruise admits he'd eventually like to try his hand at directing. "I will one day," he says. "I've always wanted to. I've been offered things to direct but have to find the right piece." As for his current sleep deprivation, Cruise looks on the bright side. At least it's not due to anxiety, as it was in his younger days. He recalls, "I remember lying in bed at 18 going, 'Man, I just really hope I don't get fired.'"
Britney Spears, whose first four studio albums hit No. 1 on the charts, is likely to return to the pinnacle with her fifth, Blackout, based on a brisk first day of sales, according to Billboard mag. The album, released Tuesday, sold 124,000 copies on its first day, more than double that of the current chart-topper, Carrie Underwood's Carnival Ride. Spears's label, Jive/Zomba, expects the album to sell between 330,000 and 350,000 copies in its first week, which should easily propel it into the No. 1 slot, Billboard reports. The popstar's last studio album, 2003's In the Zone, sold 609,000 in its first week. Spears attended Heidi Klum's annual Halloween bash last night at LA's Green Door lounge with cousin Alli Sims. Why can't this girl put a few clothes on? It got old a long time ago.
To prove to fellow restroom users he's not up to any funny business, Owen Wilson has taken to relieving himself with the stall door open. Despite having been spotted enjoying an occasional cocktail, Wilson is allegedly trying to prove he is not partaking of any other substances. At LA's Museum of Contemporary Art on Sunday, the recently hospitalized Darjeeling Limited star attended a ball in honor of artist Takashi Murikami. "He was with a girl with blond highlights," said a spy, "and he went to the bathroom and peed with the door open." Wilson, who is currently in New York, has been spotted frequenting various hotspots, including the Beatrice Inn, where one reveler spotted him at 2:30 yesterday morning "surrounded by two or three younger girls." Asked about the open stall door, Wilson's rep responded, "Can you blame him? He's damned if he does and damned if he doesn't. If he tries to protect himself from innuendo and lies, it gets used against him."
Jake Gyllenhaal and Reese Witherspoon had another PDA-packed public date Wednesday, taking Witherspoon's two children, Ava, 8, and Deacon, 4, trick or treating in LA's Brentwood neighborhood. Witherspoon was dressed as a witch; Gyllenhaal as an ape. "They were holding hands and swinging them in the air as they walked around the neighborhood," says a witness, who added that Gyllenhaal often lifted up his gorilla mask to smooch his Rendition co-star. "Reese was laughing at everything Jake was saying." As Ava (also in a witch costume) and Deacon (a superhero) ran up to every door for treats, "Reese and Jake waited on the sidewalk and flirted," the onlooker says. "Jake tapped Reese on the butt and then she hit him back - they began running in a circle hitting each other!" the witness reports. "Sometimes he came up from behind and nuzzled his big hairy mask into her neck."
