On-set romance for Grindhouse star and director

A torrid affair between Rose McGowan and director Robert Rodriguez reportedly halted production of the film Grindhouse last year and broke up the director's 16-year marriage. "It was the worst-kept secret on the set. They were going off to his trailer, having meals together," says a source. "Rose thought some of the crew were treating her differently, and the attitude was, like, well what do you expect when you're [bleeping] the director?" Rodriguez and now-estranged wife Elizabeth Avellan share five children and were co-producing Grindhouse after successful collaborations on Sin City, From Dusk Till Dawn, Desperado and Spy Kids. After Avellan found out, "there was an eruption of emotions - an emotional volcano," says a source. When Rodriguez "fell in love with his femme-fatale star...he broke up his marriage of 16 years... The production had to be shut down for a month while he recovered," reports Variety. McGowan and Rodriguez are still an item, but are keeping their relationship low-profile. "They arrived in the same limo for the LA premiere, but they got out separately several minutes apart to avoid being seen together," said a source.
